Nothing to see here...

We dropped into the house on Saturday, but there are no pictures this week as not much has changed unfortunately. Hopefully Ben will get to see some progress when he drops in on his way up to Albury later in the week and we will have some more updates for you then.

In the meantime, we have been busy buying a few bits and pieces for the house - which is quite exciting. It is a bit difficult remembering what we actually have since it has been in storage and we haven't seen it all in three years! So far we have bought a nice set of couches and a coffee table for the family room, and a few small knick-knacks that we know we definitely already have.

We also visited the Home Show last week and got some more great ideas for landscaping and interior decorating. We popped in on my friend Emily from Innovative Curtains & Blinds, and made an appointment for this coming Saturday to discuss our options. Next on the list will be to find a carpet layer...

Fingers crossed for more progress this week!

  1. It's frustrating when you sometimes see lots of progress, then nothing but hang in there, you must be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel!

  2. Hello! I found your blog on the weekend when I was doing a search for people's experiences with Harkaway Homes. Did you consider their project managed option? Your house is gorgeous, can't wait to see the finished product!

  3. Hi Jennifer,

Thanks for your feedback - we are really pleased with how it is coming along too :)

It was a few years ago now that we were looking into Harkaway Homes so my memory is a bit hazy, but from what I can recall they were pushing us more heavily towards the owner-builder option. Understandable given that they are based in Officer (a long way from Kilmore!), but as first home-buyers we couldn't really take the owner-builder route.

  4. Hi

Just a quick note to thank you for your regular updates and informative blog. We are in the last stages of finalising our building contract with Keogh and your unbiased comments have been quite useful in understanding the process. I hope your build continues without too many hassles and I look forward to the next few months of photos and comments.

  5. Thanks! How have found Keogh so far? We would love to hear feedback from others. Are you looking at starting a blog of your own? If so I would love to read it!

  6. Hi. No blog from me I'm afraid - I just don't know how you find the time.
Regarding Keogh - we have been pretty happy so far. We like the approach-ability of Frank and appreciate the transparent way things are costed. As with most builds things, are going slower than we had hoped, but it is a price we are happy to pay to deal with a smaller builder.

  7. I must say, if I had to pick one fault it would be the speed of the build that you get with a smaller builder compared to a volume builder. We went in knowing that the contract was 300 days, but we are so eager to get in that it feels like it has been 3,000 days!

I do love the fact though that the business is so family-oriented. Having the owner of the company actually visit the site really helps to cement the feeling that they actually care about the finished product and how everything turns out.

Good luck with your build! Where are you building?
