Moving along nicely...

Those few weeks where nothing seemed to be getting done have now passed and the house is progressing along nicely.

In terms of progress, we don't have any new pictures this week but it looks like the painters have finished up painting both inside and out.

Now that the painters are done (for now), preparations have been made for the tilers to start this week. We decided to alter the kitchen splash back at the last minute and add in an extra border tile, so there was a quick rush around to a number of tile stores to find and purchase what we wanted. It is quite frustrating when you have a picture in your mind of what you want, only to be told by staff that it doesn't exist (!) We kept persevering and in the end we got lucky at Tile Citi, so hopefully it turns out as expected.

This week we are also expecting the electricians on site for their fit-off, so on Saturday we trekked up to the house to drop off all of the light fittings and the fireplace materials we have purchased so far. Click here for a refresher on some of our lighting choices.

Refresh: Servery light to go over the kitchen bench

Of note, the house seems to be generating quite a bit of commentary amongst the locals. When we were dropping off the lights on Saturday, we were stopped by a guy passing by who wanted to tell us how he has been watching the build since the beginning, and how much he loves how it is coming along. This is not the first time this has happened either - got to love positive feedback!

Still no firm date for handover, but all going well we are looking at another 4 weeks or so. At least this means the weather should be warming up nicely for the move. In the meantime we have been busy looking at our options for curtains and carpet. So far we have gotten just the one quote for the curtains, but we have another company booked to come for a visit on Thursday. Turns out that Ben and I have expensive tastes in window furnishings, which makes things interesting to say the least. Decisions, decisions...
